Toyota’s FJ40 Land Cruiser, which was inspired and developed from the Willys M38 Jeep. The Toyota was developed and by design has become known by off-road enthusiasts over the years for its competency when the going gets tough. While it was aimed squarely at Land Rover in the 1960s, many found that the Toyota was much more rugged and reliable than its British and American rival, therefore sought after for it’s legendary history and considered by all the leading experts as a “pure vintage off road investment second to none”.
The industry recognized Land cruiser experts at Vintage Offroad in Flagstaff, Arizona, were commissioned by Team Tech to build the SEMA “Silver Bullet” . Started out with a very low mile Southwestern FJ40 and performed this Award Winning one of a kind transformation.
The body was stripped to bare metal, and the frame was cleaned primed and painted to ensure longevity. A factory 3” shackle lifted suspension lift kit accommodates the 33x 10.5 BFG brand new model KO2 tires, which were introduced at SEMA on this truck by BFG. Shocks are Nitrogen Pro Comp 9000. This configuration maintains the factory system while accommodating larger more modern tire platforms. Tires are mounted on Pro Comp Aluminum #5029 satin black powder coated 16×8 wheels. These desirable additions, along with a brand new 21-gallon long-range auxiliary gas tank, demonstrate that this FJ40 is not just for show but that it can also handle serious off-road duty. The package was further upgraded with an “icon” bumper and WARN remote controlled Zeon 10.5 with synthetic WARN rope.
The original rust free body was professionally prepared, primed, painted with a two stage Toyota Titanium Metallic paint with 7 clear coats delivering the wet look of a modern factory high end finish.
Since restoration, this FJ40 has accumulated under 100 test miles in Arizona, Nevada and Colorado and ran flawlessly in all test segments. After being delivered to SEMA 2014 it was the hit of the show. This FJ40 has never been off road in order to preserve its high-quality condition.
